The sperm thaw procedure is used to recover and process a previously frozen sperm sample prior to its use in IVF. After the patient’s sperm sample is located and the vial is retrieved from liquid nitrogen storage, it is verified against the patient’s paperwork for accuracy. The sample is then warmed in a water bath and checked to determine sperm concentration, motility and progression. Once thawed, the sperm sample can be processed and used in any subsequent procedure.
